Henry F. MacGregor, library benefactor. Born 25 April 1855. Died 3 September 1923. Henry left stipulations in his will directing his wife to purchase land for a public library in Derry, NH. The library opened on East Broadway in 1927. This portrait now adourns a wall in the New Hampshire Room.

The MacGregor Window was removed from the rear of the old building in 1989 during the library expansion. It was restored and now adourns the New Hampshire Room. Seen on the MacGregor Window is the MacGregor Coat of Arms and the inscription "E'en do bait spair nocht." A rough translation is "Even Though Overwhelmed, Spare Nothing." Or "Let us now even do, and spare no effort."

The MacGregor Building. In 1926, Henry F. MacGregor bequeathed funds in his will and instructed his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Stevens MacGregor to purchase land for a library. The old site of the former Boyd Homestead was purchased and the library was raised. The building was designed by George G. Adams. Sign reads: Derry Public Library, Building Gift of Henry F. MacGregor.
